York United FC is thrilled to announce Sharman's Proper Pies as the club's exclusive pie supplier for the 2021 campaign.

The highly-regarded business - which is the brainchild of well-known football broadcaster James Sharman - will be present at every home game for the remainder of the season, beginning with the Canadian Championship clash against Master's FA this Saturday, August 21.

"We're really excited at Sharman's Proper Pies to be a part of this with York United," Sharman said.

"I have a background within the game from the media side so to be on the culinary side is a lot of fun. Being associated with a league like the CPL - a growing league - and a club like York United...this is a big moment for us."

Sharman feels the partnership is particularly apt given the shared similarities between his business and the club. For any small startup, the fledgling years are always the most difficult, with a multitude of steep learning curves providing an arduous obstacle course. But, Covid-19 added a particularly devastating challenge. However, Sharman's Proper Pies - like the CPL and York United - pushed through.

"I look at the CPL and coming through the pandemic - as we did - it's been motivational and inspiring," Sharman says.

"So there's real comparisons there between what we've been doing and, perhaps on a bigger scale, York United. Which, I think, bodes well for the future. And it's just great to be at the stadium with fans. To have my business there - a few yards from the sidelines, from the fans going crazy in that frenzied excitement of watching a match...it just works well. It just makes me smile."
