Juan Pablo reached out to Niko via Instagram and the pair swapped messages about football, life and everything in between. When they decided to jump on a Zoom call, we third-wheeled and recorded the conversation for posterity.

In a thoroughly engaging and riveting conversation, Juan Pablo went into detail about his time on The Bachelor and the perils of reality television.

"It's funny because people think that's the dream," he said wryly, as he reminisced about countless beautiful women vying for his attention.

"They wanted me to be me, which I think was a mistake. To me, reality means you have to be real. You don't have to be fake. It's a reality show but it's still about somebody's life, their family, their daughter. And the same for the girls too. The one thing that I considered all the time was my daughter because you have to set an example for her and I wouldn't want her seeing Dad doing something a gentleman wouldn't do. They (show producers) had to twist it a lot. They had to edit a lot. I wish I was able to edit it."

In the season finale of The Bachelor, Juan Pablo didn't propose to the winner, Nikki Ferrell, expressing his reservations about making such a big commitment when only just getting to know someone. He echoed that sentiment when chatting to Niko about whether he had any regrets about his time on the show.

"I had never given anyone a ring back then," he said.

"I had known this girl for 40 hours and had talked to her Dad and he said, 'If you propose then you're 100% sure you're going to marry her'. How are you gonna marry her and you don't ever know her? If someone wants to propose, that's great. If not, that's great too."
