Eoin knows this because back in 2016, I shot his first feature documentary film, Celtic Soul, with him and Jay Baruchel. Together we travelled for 3 weeks across Ireland and Scotland and I listened to him and Jay talk for hours about their religion: Celtic FC.

It was thanks to this project that I understood what 'fanaticism' really is and gently grew to understand soccer as more than a mere sport. It was - more often than not - a way to share dreams, identity and quickly get to know a perfect stranger if they wear the same team colours.

The concept that Eoin put together for this project focused on time, opportunity and movement. Those messages would be captured by the vibrant energy of York United FC and a few key players. He wanted a film that reflected the team's philosophy: inclusivity, ambition and above all, its sense of community. My background is in documentaries and I've built my career as a filmmaker on one concept: the camera never lies. Whatever a person's true nature, the camera will be there to capture it for the audience to see - regardless of how hard you try to edit.

I think the final film reflects the sincerity of the team's mission and I'm truly proud of it.
