For Ricci, 2023 proved an incredibly personal year. Having suffered successive ACL injuries, he displayed immense courage, strength and sacrifice to bounce back so impressively.

The 27-year-old finished the campaign with 28 appearances in all competitions, found the net four times and registered a pair of assists too. In total, there was over 1,500 minutes of action for the Richmond Hill native.

One standout moment occurred in April when Ricci came off the bench in the Canadian Championship clash with MLS giants Vancouver Whitecaps and thumped home a terrific strike from distance to cut the deficit. Ultimately, it proved a consolation but it was Ricci's first goal in 20 months. It had been a long road back, but a reflection of the type of spirited warrior he is.
