York United FC centre-back Dominick Zator is available for selection for tonight's CPL clash with Forge FC at Tim Hortons Field (kick-off 7pm ET and available to watch via OneSoccer) after the club successfully submitted a claim of wrongful dismissal to the Canada Soccer Disciplinary Committee regarding the red card he received last Friday against the same opposition.

Just four minutes before the half-time interval, Zator was adjudged to have fouled Forge attacker Tristan Borges on the edge of the penalty area and was controversially sent-off by referee Yusri Rudolf, despite the subsequent protestations from Zator and other York United players. The home side, playing at York Lions Stadium for the first time since October 2019, went on to suffer a 1-0 defeat.

Rudolf's post-game report outlined the reason for the red card:

"Denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity to an opponent moving towards the player’s goal by an offence punishable by a free kick or a penalty kick".

However, following a forensic video and photographic analysis of the incident, as well as hearing the testimonies of Zator and goalkeeper Nathan Ingham, the club presented a formal claim of wrongful dismissal to the Canada Soccer Disciplinary Panel. Late on Tuesday evening, a decision was reached.

"The Canada Soccer Disciplinary Panel reviewed the written statements, photographs, and video footage provided by York United FC in support of their claim," went the body's official statement on the matter.

"The Canada Soccer Disciplinary Panel determines that Mr. Zator did not commit an offence that denied the opposing team an obvious goalscoring opportunity and therefore the sending-off was not in accordance with the Laws of the Game. The Claim submitted by York United FC is successful and the standard punishment for this offence is withdrawn."
